What is Cup of Excellence? It is an award given to exceptional coffees judged by an international jury of esteemed coffee cuppers. They are top lots of coffee that have well developed body, aroma, and sweetness that will be appreciated by coffee connoisseurs with a discerning palate. They are auctioned off to the highest bidders around the world.
Why do we buy Cup of Excellence coffee? It is a great program that gives the farmers a chance to showcase their best coffee and get paid for it. Forget fair trade, some coffees sell for 100's of dollars a pound! It's also a way for myself as a cupper and q grader to see if I am calibrated with other cuppers out there.
